Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8)
The authority operates a small Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The program is currently closed to new applicants.
Moderate Price Housing Program
Since 1983, the authority has administered the Moderate Price Housing Program, a deed-restriction program designed to aid and assist the sale and resale of moderate price, owner occupied single-family housing units. Deed restricted units appear for sale in Glastonbury from time to time. If you find such a unit and would like to further explore the program, you may download an application, which includes the regulations and program requirements here.
Fair Rent Commission
The Town of Glastonbury has adopted an ordinance establishing a town Fair Rent Commission. This commission's purpose is to hear complaints regarding excessive or unfair rents. The commission has authority to roll back or maintain rents for a period not to exceed six months. Only Glastonbury residents may file fair rent complaints with the Fair Rent Commission. The Housing Authority serves as the staff for this Commission.
More information about the Fair Rent Commission can be found in the local fair rent commission ordinance and the state law regarding such commissions. If you feel that a proposed rent increase is unfair you can file a complaint with the Housing Authority. More information is available here on tenants rights and rent increases and fair rent commissions.
